HELPFUL TIPS FOR WIRING FOODSERVICE EQUIPMENT

TURN THOSE INDIVIDUAL WIRE RUNS INTO A HARNESS
Your equipment probably has controls with wires that run all over the place. Often those wires are run individually by production people and the connectors and terminals are put on by hand. Letting an engineer review your product may lead to a wire harness, or group of harnesses that can speed installation time and quality. A wire harness can be built in an automated or semi-automated environment and 100% tested for continuity and crimp quality. This will dramatically reduce quality issues. In addition, the harness is often quicker to install allowing your valuable assembly people to be more productive and lower your overhead.

CONSOLIDATE CONNECTION TYPES TO SAVE MONEY
Often as a product evolves through versions and designers, the individual connectors can vary due to knowledge, or parts on hand at that time. A "faston" can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Chances are the production people know what they can substitute or what works best. By reviewing you terminal and connector list you can save money by consolidating parts.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER-SPEC YOUR WIRE
Copper prices are very erratic. The simple act of making sure you use the proper gauge of wire can save huge amounts of money. For example, the amount of copper used in a 12AWG wire is 60% HIGHER than a similar 14AWG wire! Even if your wires are only a few feet long this can add up to a significant part of your wiring cost.

CONSIDER YOUR SOURCE
Many companies think a wire assembly is a wire assembly. Some also think that wiring in some fancy computer device is more important than a pizza oven. We know as well as you that the wiring in your equipment is just as critical to your company and your customers as some big data center's. Make sure when you select a supplier they understand the critical measures in YOUR industry. Want to test them? Ask them what SJTO means...
